The BDSAT nanosatellite was designed for experimental verification of sensory systems in our orbit. It is the first private cubesat in the Czech Republic designed to verify both industrial pressure sensors in the space environment and at the same time a bank of supercapacitors as a modern energy source for space applications, which enables the delivery of high power in a short time. In addition, the satellite also supports the worldwide radio amateur community with several HAM services and activities.
Specialists from BD SENSORS, Spacemanic, as well as researchers from CEITEC BUT and FEEC BUT participated in the development of the nanosatellite. The first BDSAT nanosatellite was sent into orbit around the Earth in early April 2022. But it stopped transmitting a radio signal after some few weeks. The BDSAT-2 satellite was then successfully launched into space by a Falcon 9 rocket from Cape Canaveral on 1/3/2023 at 15:56. BDSAT-2 continues the measurements of the first satellite, currently very successfully. Data from these measurements can be viewed on the BDSAT project website www.bdsat.cz. Both satellites were implemented with financial support from the state budget through the Ministry of Industry and Trade in the TRIO program.
And it was the BD SENSORS company, the regular exhibitor at the AMPER international trade fair for electrical engineering, energy and automation, that signed up this project in the Golden AMPER 2023 competition. The BDSAT project won in its category and was thus among the 4 awarded out of a total competition of 18 exhibits. The award ceremony took place on the first fair day, March 21, 2023, in the foyer of the exhibition hall. Matyáš Gmenta accepted this award on behalf of BD SENSORS.
The BD SENSORS company would like to thank the CEITEC and FEEC BUT and also the Spacemanic company for their excellent cooperation on the project.
